Get and compare solar quotes
Fill out your information below to get 3 solar quotes from our network of local vetted solar panel installers. Here’s how our process works:
- Start by submitting your information to us via the form below. There is no obligation or payment required, our service is 100% free. You will receive an immediate follow-up email requesting photos of your electrical panel and a recent electricity bill. You can reply back with that information at your convenience.
- We will then email you a no-obligation preliminary solar estimate. It will include a solar panel layout image for your roof, a price range based on our database of 1,000’s of recent quotes and more information about next steps and incentives.
- If the preliminary estimate aligns with your expectations, we can get you 3 solar quotes from our network of verified installers. The quoting process can be completed via satellite imagery so installers will not need to come to your home.
- Once we get the quotes, we will send you a detailed quote summary PDF document comparing the most important aspects of each quote apples-to-apples. We will also have a 1-on-1 quote review call to ensure you understand the differences between each quote and that all your questions are answered.
- If you want to move forward with solar, we connect you with your chosen solar installer and the work begins!
What you need to know:
The cost of solar
The average residential solar installation can cost anywhere from $10,000 – $40,000 (before tax and incentives). This serves as a very general average. Larger roofs and homes that use more electricity can accommodate larger systems with higher upfront costs. If you have a budget in mind, please let us know so that our installers can remain within it.
Please note that installer payment schedules vary significantly and rarely align with disbursements from financing programs. This means that you will have to carry at least a portion of the costs with cash or short-term bridge financing like a line of credit.
Solar incentives
The Canada Greener Homes Program provides a $40,000 interest-free loan to Canadian homeowners. Approval can take several weeks and an energy evaluation must be completed before getting solar panel quotes. Learn more about available incentives here.
What installers does Glean use?
At Glean, we are committed to maintaining the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, and customer satisfaction. Our solar installers must adhere to our Code of Conduct to ensure a positive experience for both homeowners and fellow members of the Canadian solar community. Glean installers must be local, highly experienced and have a superior reputation. Glean solar installers must use in-house labour (instead of subcontracting). In Alberta, due to the major issues surrounding door-to-door high pressure sales, we do not work with installers that use door-to-door sales.
Timing
Solar is a significant investment that should not be rushed. Getting good solar quotes and comparing them properly will take time. There is no way to rush our process as we will always prioritize quality over speed. The average turnaround time for solar quotes is currently 2 weeks and solar installers are currently booking installations 3-6 months out. The solar quotes we get for you will be valid for 15 days.
How Glean works
Glean operates like a mortgage or insurance broker. We are partnered with local solar installers that we have vetted according to our code of conduct. We provide homeowners with 3 solar quotes, an easy-to-compare quote summary (that includes a detailed financial analysis) and a quote review call to answer questions. The best part is, our service is free for homeowners!
Although, our service is free it also requires a significant amount of time and effort on our end. We pride ourselves on delivering a service that prioritizes quality over speed. We are only able to provide our service for free because we collect a fee from the installer that you choose, only if we facilitated that quote. For that reason, we kindly ask that you wait for us to provide you with our full service before you request additional quotes independently or choose an installer outside our network. If you need quotes quicker, or already have quotes, our solar quote review service may be a better fit.
What if I already have quotes or want to get more on my own?
In our experience, 3 solar quotes is enough when they are from our network of highly qualified installers. In most cases, we have been working with our network of installers for many years. Our installers know they are competing with other high quality installers, so they put their best quote forward right off the bat.
If you are someone who wants to get their own quotes, please understand that Glean network of solar installers is very extensive. The more quotes you get from outside our service, the higher the chance that the installers are from within our network, which renders our service redundant. So, if you would like to use our service, we would encourage you to refrain from requesting additional quotes until our process is complete. After which, you are free to get quotes from whoever you’d like… but we bet you won’t have to!
If you already have solar quotes you can still request 3 quotes below. We will need to know who those quotes are from so that we do not get you duplicates. Additionally, if you want to learn how your quotes stack up against the rest of the solar industry. We have free and paid quote review options depending on how much detail and assistance you’d like.
